DOGS was first formed to bring together a group of people who enjoy the social side of golf as much as golf itself. Membership has continued to expand ever since. We have no barriers on ability, sex or age. All that we ask is that you enjoy yourself. We are now proud to boast a membership of 80+ members of which, on any given DOGS day out, there will routinely be 25 or more taking part.
There is a nominal annual membership fee of £10 which pays for administration and some of the prizes at each event.
If you are interested in joining please feel free to come as our guest first, meet us on course and test us out socially afterwards – we will probably relieve you of your first year’s membership that very evening!
Our annual diary normally consists of:
o 4 events held over the year on local courses. Some are 9 holes (stapleford team) in the morning and 18 (individual stapleford) in the afternoon and some just 18 holes. We always have an evening meal afterwards one of which is a BBQ.
o A mid summer 2 day outing (usually Sunday/Monday) to a hotel type venue slightly further away which also provides activities for those who find actually playing a round interferes with the enjoyment of the outing.
o An annual match is held in May between Deddington Original Golf Society and Dorchester Original Golf Society (DOGS V DOGS) for a (now very scruffy) Bulldog mascot. This is normally played at Kirtlington GC. There is a dinner and prize giving afterwards alternating between the Deddington Arms and the White Hart. Team selection is entirely based on bribing Dave Chatterton.
The Annual General Meeting
was held in the Deddington Arms - our clubhouse - on Thursday 17 January. The minutes can be viewed by clicking HERE
