Parish Show 2011 - Report
Well, it’s over for another year, but, as the Show Committee hoped, it was bigger than last year and the quality of the exhibits was much praised by the judges. Congratulations to everyone who entered and huge thanks to all the stewards, tea providers, stall minders and the donations bucket holder, without whom we could not run this event. Elsa Williams has the worst job on the day, recording all the results and adding up the scores - a mighty, essential job which she does with calmness and efficiency.
My abiding memories of the day will be Eileen Anderson’s wonderful embroidered clown picture, the children’s vegetable creatures, especially the ant-eater plus ant hills and ants and Dennis Freeman’s face when his name was read out as Show Champion!
The Boys’ Brigade Band played for us this year, which greatly helped promote the happy atmosphere. Thanks to them for giving up their time.
The Committee will be meeting shortly to review the Show and start to plan for next year. The date will be Saturday 1st September. I would love to hear from anyone who has ideas for new classes, so please get in touch. Sian Westbury’s suggestion of a jewellery class, which we introduced this time, brought in some beautiful necklaces and bracelets to admire.
