Windmill Community Centre

Windmill Community Centre signNews

We are very sorry to report the sudden death of Jim Flux, the Windmill Treasurer. Jim has been a stalwart in running the Windmill for many years and will be sorely missed.

Upgrades 2016

We have made good progress. All the doors and windows on the south, east, and north sides have been replaced, including new entrance doors. The windows are all double glazed, which helps to improve our energy usage by reducing heat loss.

Much of the ageing guttering has been replaced and all the external woodwork has also been repainted. The redecoration of all the internal areas is now complete: the main hall, kitchen, lounge, committee room, youth room, passages and toilets.

The flooring in the entrance passageway and committee room have been replaced with Karndean design flooring. This is easier to keep clean and maintain, and is more hard wearing. We feel this will greatly improve the entrance area.

In the toilets we have replaced the ageing radiators and now that the walls have been redecorated, in September we will power steam clean the floor areas. A new energy efficient boiler was installed last December, along with with new radiators in the youth and committee rooms.

Meanwhile - get involved! The Windmill Committee are always looking for more people to help on the Management Committee.

Facilities

The multi-purpose Windmill Community Centre on the Hempton Road provides sports and recreational facilities. It's on the south side of the B4031 Chipping Norton road, on the western edge of Deddington. Access is well signed but GoogleMaps and Streetmap are confusing - the arrow points closer in towards the village.

Outside facilities include: a six-acre playing field; an all-purpose floodlit all-weather court; a six-rink bowls area (from autumn 2016 with no resident club); three all-weather tennis courts; toddlers' and children's play areas; and Teen Scene with a multi-use games area. There is a floodlit car park, and a ramp to allow disabled access to the ground floor.
