WINDMILL CENTRE GETS A MAKEOVER
The 2015 Parish Questionnaire told us loud and clear that the Windmill Centre needs a makover - so it's going to get one. A new Working Group is actively looking at a major improvement and extensions package which will include the children's play area, all-weather court and MUGA and, by no means least, the Centre building.
Members of the broadly-based group, which has been set up as a working group of the Parish Council are:
Mary Robinson (Chair, former DPC Chairman and former Trustee), Martin Squires (Vice-Chair and Parish Councillor), Ria
Betteridge (Windmill Management Committee), Rosie Burland (WMC), Jill
Cheeseman (Deddington Cricket Club), Vaughan Jones (Chair, WMC), Helen Oldfield (PC),
Simon Oldfield (Cricket), David Rogers, (DPC Chair), Roger Sykes
(Deddington Town Football Club), Caroline Tindale (WMC), Jonathan Watts (PC and Football),
and Brian Wood (PC).
We need to know whether the parish is behind us in what we are trying to do, and if there are concerns to be addressed. Please email any one of us on [email protected]
Monthly updates will appear in Deddington News - these are the first:

Facilities
The multi-purpose Windmill Community Centre on the Hempton Road provides sports and recreational facilities. It's on the south side of the B4031 Chipping Norton road, on the western edge of Deddington. Access is well signed but GoogleMaps and Streetmap are confusing - the arrow points closer in towards the village.
Outside facilities include: a six-acre playing field; an all-purpose floodlit all-weather court; three all-weather tennis courts; toddlers' and children's play areas; and Teen Scene and MUGA, and a fitness trail. There is a floodlit car park, and a ramp to allow disabled access to the ground floor.
Inside: on the ground floor, 19m x 9m hall, marked out for badminton; stage; 14.5m x 4m social and viewing area; committee room, 3.9m x 8.4m approx; well-equipped kitchen; changing rooms, showers and toilets (including a disability toilet). Upstairs: 15m x 10m meeting room, toilets and kitchen.
Deddington Parish Council has an office in the building staffed by the Parish Clerk. The office is open 8.30am-6pm on Wednesdays, 8.30am-2.30pm on Thursdays, 9am-1pm on the Saturday before the PC Meeting (3rd Wednesday in the month). Phone/fax: 01869 337447.
