We just got back from the Sealed Knot anniversary event at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire where we re-enacted the Battle of Naseby.

It was a hectic weekend, with a number of battles and displays spread over three days. We were involved in just about everything, from demonstrations of how drums and colours were used in the 17th century, the Living History Camp, the battles themselves and Sacking the Royalist Baggage Train.

We had a number of new recruits to support through the weekend, some of last year’s recruits were at their first Major Muster - and we also had a number of members on temporary memberships trying us out for the first time. In the end we were struggling to find enough kit to go around, but with a little judicial borrowing from other regiments and some canny shopping from a couple of our members we just about managed it.

We got a few pictures and some video of the event, but seeing as we didn’t get back until late Monday evening, none of that has been put up on the website (www.earlrivers.org.uk) yet, although I would expect to get some pictures online next weekend.

The new recruits seemed to enjoy it though. Here are a couple of excerpts from our forum pages (http://earlriversadmin.proboards40.com)

Callum said: My first Ever Muster and one of the best weekends i have had for a very very long time . I have to say as i said that weekend you can count me as a member of this regiment indefinitely (well when i get the SK form sorted) and I think even my brother and dad are interested in joining So even better news. Thanks Earl Rivers to all of you

Paul said: This was also my first muster. I thought it to be a well organized event and that it went really well considering the number of people involved. After the battles on the first day I wasn't sure if it was for me, but after Sunday and Monday my mind was made up Yesssss when’s the next one!!! I enjoyed my time in the pike block but I might also like to try musket as well at some time in the future. The bbq on Saturday was a nice friendly relaxed affair and the beer tent on Sunday with Ska Wars was excellent. All in all it was a really good enjoyable long weekend. Thank you Earl Rivers regiment and also to the SK

Earl Rivers Regiment and The Earl Of Northamptons Regiments Of Foote, also not to forget vaunes company 'From acorns mighty things will grow'!

Some members of the Savage Lions Apprentices of our Regiment, Our apprentice group for the under 12's was so popular childern from other Regiments were joining in, one time we were over run by children.

Rupert’s Blew Coats Regiment Of Foote Last Stand, I sat and watched the battle on 2 of the 3 days and wow.. what a display, Just listening to the public, It gave me so much pride to be a members of the Sealed knot.

I’ll post again when we get some more pictures online.
