The old chapel in New Street

Before it was converted into a rental flat known as The Barracks in this century, this building in New Street was a garage and store room. In the 1880s it was a Primitive Methodist chapel and later became the Salvation Army barracks. Notice the much-missed monkey puzzle trees.
