Servicemen whose details have been submitted by families or friends

In the course of researching the Second World War Rob Forsyth came across several names of those who served in WWI and are not recorded in either the Vicar's notes or the Roll of Honour.

Frank Bowler (1898 - 1989) 2nd Lieutenant Royal Flying Corps. Frank and his two older brothers were all in uniform in both world wars. His eldest brother  Leslie was highly decorated – MC with bar and twice Mentioned in Dispatches – and wounded twice.  He and the middle brother Geoffrey are listed in the Roll of Honour for Deddington but Frank is not, probably because he did not join until April 1918. The story of the Bowler Boys at war is contained in Personal Stories

Bartholomed Callow (1881 -1964).   Driver in the Army Service Corps

Jon Maurice French

Francis B Garrett, Clifton

Henry Thomas Harper (b 1898) Private   Royal Berkshire Regiment

Arthur John (Jack) Malcher (1898 - 1997)    Royal Gloucestershire Regiment

James Henry Hone Malings (1885 - 1929) Private  Royal Engineers and Northumberland Fusiliers (1914 to 1920)

John Thomas Malings (1878-????) John  served in the 20th Hussars in South Africa and Egypt, emigrated to Canada in 1907 and served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force by subtracting 6 years from his age!

Frederick Sanders  The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry

Frank BOWLER (1898 - 1989)
