Police Force - including War Reserve PF

William Charles WEST  (1901-1952)  Charles was the father of José who married Leading Aircraftman Bob Stevens. After the war Charles remained a Special Constable in the Police Force.

The Fire Service

The Deddington Fire Brigade were called to Coventry on the night of 14th November when a major German Air Blitz (air raid) destroyed much of the  city. The names of people who served in the Fire Brigade during the war - and  may have been there are:

We have yet to put names to all these faces but they will be added as and when we find out

one of them is Lawrence Wallin who was a 14 year old boy but still considered old enough to help with civil defence. His father served in the Home Guard and was one of several village bakers with a shop on the market square - now Hamptons Estate agency. The bakery is now The Flower Shop in which the ovens are still preserved.
