100th Anniversary of Armistice Day WWI, 2018

This Centenary was marked in many ways.

For the first time the Service of Remembrance at the War memorial was relayed live into the church via a very long audio cable!

A metal statue based on a photo of Pte Archie Gomm (d.1917) stood on the village green until Armistice Day when he took the salute.

14 clear plastic 'There but not there' silhouttes were placed on a chair in the church daily along with 5 names of Deddington soldiers killed in WWI. By Armistice day all 70 killed were in church.

Archie and 7 of the clear silhouettes later went to an RBL fund raising ball on 17 November.

The Primary School children made poppies to decorate the church.

A WWI concert was held on 1 December in the church.
