Pte Percival Pinfold - Photograph

He is the seated soldier.- see pic of reverse side of photo Photo courtesy of Marguerite Weigand (neé Pinfold). It was taken in 1914 when Pinfold was 20. The seated soldier is a Lance Corporal whereas Pinfold was a Private when he died. However, as the standing soldier (a Private) is clearly much older than 20, the seated soldier must be Pinfold.

Private, 2nd Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), 23 Brigade, 8th Division.
Immediately prior to WW1, his battalion was in Malta.
His battalion landed in Zeebrugge on 20 12 1915.
He was killed in action in the Somme on 1 January 1917 age 24
He is buried in Guards’ Cemetery, Combles, France
His parents were Joseph & Elizabeth Pinfold of Clifton
