Chisletts, Market Place

The shop was - and still is - part of the property now known as Corner House with an entrance on Hudson Street. The shop frontage and entrance are now an Estate Agency. The doors are the original ones. This end of the Market Place was known as Chisletts Corner. Mary Vane Turner in her book about Deddington refers to it when talking about the Pudding and Pie Fair - "stalls stretched from what was formerly Chisletts' Corner — now known as Smith's Corner; that is, along the Market Place to the house called the Hermitage."
