New St 1950s

Pic taken from 'Design on Town and Village', Ministry of Housing & Local Government, HMSO, 1953.

The house with the porch (foreground left) is now called The Stile House being adjacent to The Stile footpath just beyond. However it had no house name until 1962 being known by the occupant's name/occupation. This was because it shared common land with Leaden Porch farmhouse immediately to the north. click here to read more about The Stile House

The house the other side of The Stile with the Hovis sign is The Bake House - formerly a bakery rub by the Course family. Click here to read more about the Course family
