An ancient charity run by trustees who, in the 17th century, were called Feoffees, meaning persons invested with a freehold estate in land for charitable purposes. Its objective is to provide housing accommodation for beneficiaries and to provide educational benefits not normally provided by the local education authority. From 2015, income from letting the upper room of the Town Hall helps pay for upkeep of the almshouses. | |
